I learned the stick-and-poke craft while living in New Jersey. But with easy access to Brooklyn, I was able to witness the rebirth of hand-poke firsthand as a feminist art form and as a way to reclaim ownership of the body. When I moved back to the Capital Region, I began my career as a machine free artist and also work full-time as a high school art educator.
